COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE ET AUX ENERGIES ALTERNATIVES

The CEA (Commissariat à l'énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives) is a French public body and a leading organisation in Europe for technological research, development and innovation. Its total workforce consists of about 15,000 employees (plus PhD students and post-docs). Currently, the CEA participates in around 350 European projects. The CEA operates in four main areas: carbon-free energies, incl. nuclear, defence and global security, information technologies, and technologies for health. In the framework of its Simulation Programme, the Nuclear Energy Division develops tools and methodologies for the design and evaluation of nuclear systems. It relies on appropriate tests on platforms (Critical facilities, thermohydraulics facilities, etc.) and powerful software, developed internally or in partnership. About 400 scientists are funded by this programme.

Role in the project

The CEA performs CFD and system simulations in order to develop and validate models and tools for passive safety systems. CEA participates to WP3 and WP4 respectively dedicated to SACO and CWC passive systems.
